Buttercream is back

Are you always looking for cost-effective and unique ways to display your beautiful bakes? Here’s a quick and easy way to create cake stands using everyday items.

As a chef/ baker/ homecook whether in your own business or working in someone else’s kitchen, or even in your own home, you are always looking for cost effective and unique ways to display your beautiful bakes.

Cake stands can be expensive and take a lot of space to store, and often they don’t always come in the correct size or décor style size you would prefer. Here’s a quick and easy way to create cake stands using a plate and bowl or cup. This allows you to serve your cakes on a cake stand that is the correct size and even colour and or decor style to suit your occasion and is also much more cost effective, as these items are cheap and more readily available.

Here’s how:

You will need:

Plate
Bowl/ mug
Pencil
Prestik or hot glue gun

What to do

Choose a plate and bowl in the colour or style you’d like.

Make sure the bowl and plate are clean and free of dust and moisture.

Place the plate upside down on your surface.

Place your bowl in the middle of your plate right side up., ensuring it is centred correctly.

Once you have centred it use the pencil to draw around the base of the bowl.

Remove the bowl and then either pipe a circle of hot glue or place blobs of Prestik, around the inside of the circle you’ve drawn.

Place the bowl back onto the plate pressing down firmly to secure it to the Prestik or hot glue.

Allow the glue to dry.

Holding the plate turn the stand upside down and place onto your serving table.

Place cake or bakes onto the cake stand carefully and serve.
